       Pool Hours. The new Outdoor Pool hours, effective through August 31, are:

 

Monday & Friday:  Closed

Tuesday - Thursday:  4 to 7 p.m.

Saturday - Sunday:  11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

 

Labor Day (September 1):  11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

 

       Pool Passes.  Pool Passes are on sale at the Aquatics office from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Season passes are available for $30 and the daily rate is $2 to $3.  Club members and

E-4s and below receive a discount on season passes.  For more information call

       Arts & Crafts Center now offers a self-help framing room.  There is a class for beginners for $35 on Mondays.  This class is for instruction only.  Participants pay for any supplies needed.  A refresher course is also offered for $25.  Cost for using the room is $4 per hour, and there is a minimum of one hour required.        New Hours.  Beginning August 18, the new hours for the Bowling Center and Snack Bar will be:

Monday - Thursday:  11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday:  11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Saturday:  1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Sunday:  CLOSED

       Wii Would Like To Play.  Check out the Bowling Center's big screen TV and Wii gaming console set up for you to play the hottest games around.     

       Game Room.  Have you played in the game room lately?  The Bowling Center has a stocked game room with plenty to keep the non-bowlers busy.  Shoot a game of pool, play air hockey or play a video game.  You are guaranteed to have fun!

       Would you be interested in a pool tournament or an air hockey tournament?  Do you need a place to show off your skills?  If so, the Bowling Center wants to hear from you.  Give us a call so we can set up a tournament in the future!

       Did you know?  You can reserve the Bowling Center for squadron functions such as commanders calls or private parties.

 

       Colorama Bowling is your ticket to winning some cash.  Pins come up in different combinations called "money shots."  There are thirty different ways to win in every lane!But, you have to strike to win!  Colorama Bowling starts at 7 p.m. every other Saturday.

 

     Extreme Bowling is still your ticket to “cosmic” fun every Friday and every other Saturday night.  We turn on the black lights, put on some music and watch the pins and ball glow.  For a cosmic night of family fun, head to Moody Lanes.

 

     Birthday Parties!  Moody Lanes is ready to help you celebrate with a fun Bowling Birthday package for your children.  The price is $8 per child Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.  After 7 p.m., the price is $9.50 per child. Packages include party plates, cups, napkins, balloons, invitations (postcards), free game coupon, shoe rental and a meal.

 

     Rental Specials.  Did you know the Bowling Center has a bowling and shoe rental special?  Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you pay only $1.25 per game and $1.25 for shoes.

       Annual Fun in the Sun Event.  The monthly Parent Involvement Activity for the CDC will be on Thursday, August 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. at your child's individual playground.  Please bring bathing suits, towels and water shoes, and help us say goodbye to summer. We hope to see you there for a refreshing good time!

 

       The Child Development Center and Pre-K Program will be closed on Friday, August 29, for the ACC Family Day.  For more information, call the CDC at 257-3135.

       Ciao.  Make Friday night Italian night.  Join us at the Club every first Friday of the month from 5 to 8 p.m. for some great Italian food.  Choose your pasta, sauce and meat, and we'll make it the perfect meal.  Mozzarella breadsticks are served at every table.

       Back to School Family Night.  Family Night is Thursday, August 14, from 5 to 7 p.m., and it will be spaghetti night!  Enjoy music by DJ Rob, dance with our mystery character and win school supply giveaways.  This event is free for Club members!      

       Mongolian BBQ.  Join us for Mongolian BBQ on August 15 from 5 to 8 p.m.  Price is $0.70 per ounce for a selection of meat and vegetables.  Price also includes sauces, rice and rolls.  Club members receive a $1 discount for each meal over $4.  Also, the band Pack's Landing will be performing!

       Club Membership.        Interested in becoming an on-base or affiliate provider?  If you answered yes, you can qualify by completing an application form and training.  Licensed providers receive training in nutrition, planning age appropriate activities, recognizing child abuse and neglect, first aid, proper safety practices in their home, CPR, as well as many other interrelated topics.  Trainees must successfully complete home and background inspections.  Spouses of active duty, retired or DoD civilians are eligible to become a provider.  Earn up to $175 per child/per week.  Training classes are held at the Family Child Care (FCC) office.  Free child care may be available to applicants during the classes. 

 

       Anyone who resides in base housing and cares for children on a regular basis, ten hours or more per week, whether paid or not, must be licensed by the Mission Support Group Commander.  Any individual providing care for children in his/her home and who has not been licensed risks losing the privilege of residing in base housing.

       Back to School Fun Run.  Celebrate back to school with a fun run at the Fitness Center on Saturday, August 16, at 8 a.m.  The run starts at Running Trail 1, across from the old MPF building.  Parents must run with children ages 5 to 7, and are encouraged to run with children ages 8 to 10.  The age divisions are 1/2 mile for ages 5 to 7, 1 mile for ages 8 to 10, 1 1/2 miles for ages 11 to 12, 2 miles for ages 13 to 15 and 3 miles for ages 16 and above.

       This facility is a 500+ acre recreation area with a 275 acre pond that has 17 cabins/cottages, 39 RV/tent sites, four group shelters and a recreational boat area.  The major fishing area offers a variety of facilities and activities to active duty and retired military personnel of all services, Coast Guard personnel, DoD Civilian employees, retired DoD civilian employees, NAF employees and their families.

       Attention hikers, mountain bikers and bird watchers! Grassy Pond’s 3.1 mile nature trail is open.  Please proceed with caution; the bridge path on the back side of the lake is not passable.  We hope to have the bridge repaired in the near future so visitors can once again enjoy both paths around Grassy Pond.  Grassy Pond is a great place to exercise while surrounded by the beauty of nature, so come out today and enjoy its splendor.

       The nature path around Grassy Pond is accessible by entering the trail by Shelter Three and ending up at the campsite near site 20.  Both entrances are clearly marked for your convenience and there are many rest stops along the path.  Remember, if you are going on the nature trail alone, please stop by the main building and let a staff member know before you leave as well as when you return.  We encourage the buddy system for activities around Grassy Pond.  Come out and get back in touch with nature.  See you at the Pond!

       Overdrive.  The AF Library audio book program, Overdrive, is finally here!        Scalloping.  Scalloping season begins in July.  All scalloping trips are at Keaton Beach, Fla.  This is one of only a handful of places where you can harvest your own scallops.  Snorkel in the Gulf of Mexico for some of the best scallops around.  Cost is $35 and includes all equipment necessary.  All you have to do is bring food for the day and snacks.  After a long day of scalloping, clean up your scallops and make your favorite delicious dish!  Call Sonny at Outdoor Adventures at 257-1375.

 

       Paintball.  Paintball is a great way to build teamwork and boost morale.  Come out to Splatter Swamp and get dirty!  The fields are open Monday through Friday for private parties of 10 or more only.  On the weekends they are open to the public.  Saturdays they are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sundays they are open from 2 to 7 p.m.  Starting August 15, the new weekend hours will be Fridays from 5 p.m. until end of play and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until dark.

    

                      

       Fall Soccer Registration.  Don't miss your chance to play Fall Soccer!  Registration ends August 13.  Cost is $40 for youth ages 5 and up.  We also offer Start Smart, an introductory soccer program that includes parent involvement, for ages 3 and 4 years, for $25.  Payment is required at time of registration.  Volunteer coaches are also needed.  Please call Dion at 257-7296 for more information on the leagues or on volunteering in Youth Sports.

       Youth Sports Physicals.  Did you know that all local schools, as well as Moody Youth Programs, require a sports physical in order to participate in Youth Sports?  Moody Medical Clinic is offering its biannual mass sports physical on Saturday, August 9, from 9 to 11 a.m.  No appointment is required.  Tricare patients only, please.  

       Preteen Bash.  Dance the night away at the Youth Center's first preteen dance of the school year!  Join us on August 8 from 7 to 10 p.m. for dancing, skating, games and free food.  Cost is $5 with a $3 member discount.

       Career Fair.  Ever wondered what it takes to get into a certain career field?  Come to the Youth Center on Tuesday, August 12, at 6 p.m. for a guest speaker, free food, info booths and giveaways.  This event is free with Youth Center admission.

       Kids Night Out.  Mom and Dad, want a night out but don't know what to do with the kids?  Bring them to the Youth Center on Friday, August 15, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. for a fun-filled night with their friends.  We'll have games, crafts, movies and dinner for all kids in kindergarten through age 12.  The theme this month is "Olympics."  Register by noon the day of the event.  Cost is $15 with a $3 member discount.  No open recreation is available on this evening.

       Give Parents a Break.  Air Force Aid Society's respite care program for youth in kindergarten through age 12 will be at the Youth Center on Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Call 257-3067 for more information.

       Announcing Teens Off Scene.  Beginning in August, your Youth Center will be closed the last Saturday of each month as we take the party downtown.  Join us Saturday, August 23, from 6 to 10 p.m. for dinner and bowling.  Reserve your slot by close of business on Friday, August 22.
